What can I say? I'm not the traveling guy for the magazine; I have a hard time being away from my tools. I only attended one show this year, and it happened to be the Havoc Show held at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The coverage is in this issue and pretty big, so if you missed it, shame on you. What makes this my favorite show is the cool activities that happen throughout the event. The frame-dragging session was a kick in the pants to watch as guys railed their trucks with total disregard for what it was doing to their rides. The bikini contest had some very pretty ladies showing off their bods; heck, there were some mods to be seen there, too. A guy in a Ford Ranger boiled his tire so much during the burn-out contest, we lost sight of his truck. Hands down, the coolest thing for me was the Sport Truck Challenge where the trucks were judged on looks as well as performance. There is nothing better than the smell of race fuel and burnt rubber wafting through the air as custom trucks rip the 1320. In my opinion, it was like visiting gearhead heaven with good people, great trucks, and awesome racing.

OK, it's not really a show but an exhibit of aftermarket companies, and there happen to be thousands of vehicles. Since it is a world trade show, the cream of the crop in custom trucks makes an appearance. Another bonus is the plethora of hot women who model in booths to attract attention to the various late-breaking products on hand. Oh, let's not forget the night life. Sin City can get pretty crazy and even more insane with open bars at some of the parties. The madness can keep you up late and may involve a lot of walking during the day, but it is worthwhile just to be there and witness all of the magic in person.

Seeing as how I'm the resident office monkey and don't get the chance to travel around the country to all these cool shows, I can only base my favorite show pick on the photos I get to browse through. That said, after checking out hundreds of photos over the past year, I crown Truck Jam as my favorite because it has some of the coolest trucks and unique sideshow events-that, and it's local to me so I can actually get out of the office and check it out!
