When we left Louisville last summer after another successful installment of the Havoc Show, we were faced with a tough fact: We had outgrown the convention center, and if we wanted to have another show there, we would've had to limit the number of trucks into the show. The guys at Mini Truckin' and Sport Truck aren't into putting a cap on fun, so we took a leap of faith to move the show to a larger, outdoor venue. An outdoor truck show in the middle of Kentucky during the month of August didn't seem too bright, since we just had a nice, air-conditioned venue. The trouble with the convention center, though, was that we could only do so much inside the building without the Fire Chief breathing down our necks.
Beech Bend Park turned out to be the perfect summertime destination for a fun show. It offered a race track we used to bring back The Sport Truck Challenge, plenty of room for vendors and custom trucks, and more room for MT's nighttime railin' competition. It was a match made in heaven, and the turnout was better than we could have hoped for. The showfield doubled in size, with nearly 460 trucks doing battle for prizes, trophies, shot glasses, and bragging rights. By all accounts, the show was killer, and we're looking forward to doing it even bigger and better next year.
