Gator Drag 2008 Custom Truck Show - Against All Odds

After all of the speculation of things going wrong with this year's event, Gator Drag went off just as planned. This time around marked the third different location since the show's beginnings in Louisiana. The venue changes made it difficult for some to keep up on the event, while others became skeptical that it could keep going strong.

Luckily for promoter Brandon Leblanc and the Relay for Life breast cancer foundation, Gator Drag turned out to be a success once again. Leblanc donates all money made after expenses to Relay for Life. Someone close to him was diagnosed with the disease, and ever since then he has been dedicated to putting on the best show possible and to helping those in need. Gator Drag continues to exceed expectations.

This Ekstensive Metalworks-built unibody '00 Silverado is pretty much all custom. It fetched our Sport Truck Editor's Choice award.	We thought this Tacoma looked great with its previous two-tone. It's new monochromatic graphics are controversial, but we dig 'em.
The Best of Show Truck gas pump award was given to Joel Gonzales for his completely finished, vintage-style Chevy C10.
Jeff Spencer has built himself one nice '84 C10. It was clean enough to get the Kustom Werx Choice skateboard award.	Instead of having a bunch of vehicle judging classes, Gator Drag lumps everything into the Top 75 category. These custom belt buckles were awarded to entrants placing in this class.
	We drove (not trailered) this truck over 1,500 miles from SoCal to the show. It won the Longest Traveled award.
	Cory Scott of Kustom Werx Autobody sure loves square-body Chevys. He recently moved on from the truck version to this '81 Blazer of the same body style. Within just a few months after purchasing it, he added air ride and a paintjob with flames by Pat Maxwell.
Mike Jones of Chaotic Rods and Customs built this '07 Chevy with new Escalade front clip. Don't let the classy theme fool you: It's LS motor boasts new heads, a cam, and a full exhaust that sounds wicked.	With all of the shop drama that this Silverado has been through, it's a nice surprise to see the project truck coming along. Rocky Fox tied up a lot of loose ends to get the Chevy laying door over a set of 24s.
The crew at Ekstensive Metalworks is fast at fabricating and had this Nissan Titan off the lift just in time for the show.
