2008 Custom Sounds Texas Heat Wave Custom Truck Show - Packing Heat

Just like every other Texas Heat Wave show in the past, this show can be summed up in two words: big and hot. Big would actually be an understatement because the show is absolutely huge, with over 1,550 registered vehicles and 40,000 people roaming the grounds. Hot would sum up the usual scorching triple-digit weather, and it describes the turnout of high-quality vehicles in attendance.

Year after year, the show has proven to be ever-expanding in size and popularity. With the recent high gas prices, there was some concern that the attendance would take a significant hit. Despite this predicted slump, this event went on to be one of the biggest ever. We guess neither extreme weather nor a dwindling economy can stop the Heat Wave from getting better.

Nitto Tire brought out a few nice rides and girls to show off its newest rubber.

The interior on Bill Carlton's Chevy Top Kick was finished with a ton of Orion audio and video components. He even fit a gun rack inside to make sure that none of the electronics get swiped.

Awards Given:
Custom Heat Wave trophies were given out to First through Third Place winners in over 150 different classes. For the 10 Best Of categories, trophies that were over 6-feet tall were given out along with cash prizes. The Best of Show winner received a one-off glass trophy plus cash. Other specialty award winners received plaques with custom artwork.

Ryan Ruffin's Chevy Colorado made a debut with a fully shaved body and a clean two-tone paintjob. The airbrushed trim has simulated wood with true-fire.

Special Events:
Besides checking out all of the cool rides, there were a few events to watch including a motorcycle stunt show by Team Stunters, a BMX exhibition, a burnout contest, a truck-o-war competition, a hydraulic dance competition, a monster truck car crush, and a wheelie show from the Texas Bandit. On Saturday night a concert including performances from Lil Boosie, Soulja Boy, Lil Will, and Paul Wall was held. Then there was an official after-party with a wet T-shirt contest. Sunday closed out the show with a bikini contest followed by the awards ceremony.

		Team Stunters kept the spectators entertained by performing insane motorcycle tricks.
The Texas Bandit Chevy S-10 not only did a wheelie, but it dragged some wheelie-bar-mounted titanium blocks at the same time. After the wheelie action was finished, he turned on the flamethrowers. Too bad we didn't have any meat on us to barbeque on the open flames.	Our Chevy S-10 made it out with a freshly painted interior.	With seats like these in this S-10, we can bet money that the owner doesn't drive it every day.
This doored Toyota is so low that it tucks the lugs on its 17s.	TD Airbrush Works not only painted this truck in flat black, but they also mixed it up with some "true fire" graphics.	We think there is a truck here, but all we see is the bottom of some billet wheels.
This Nissan Titan shocked all with 26-inch wheels tucked in the fenders. It featured an air suspension with independent rear setup. The front clip was a bit different because it is from an Infinity QX56.	"Billy the Kid" showed off his Chevy with a true Texas theme. Check out the cowhide upholstery.	The Holly Boyz unveiled their Chevy C10 with countless body mods and a fuel-injected LS1 under the hood.
Alamo Customs brought out this Cadillac-themed truck. The rear end is the coolest part: It received fins to accent the taillights.	Gabe Sandoval dusted off his recently finished square-body Chevy.	Ekstensive Metalworks is making progress on this brand-new Escalade. It just received a wall enclosure of Rockford Fosgate subwoofers and amplifiers.
Jory's '55 Chevy is not only clean, but it has an LT1 Corvette engine between the front fenders to help it get up and go.
