Last time, there were freezing temperatures and even snow flurries greeting attendees at Lay'd Out at the Park. The crew took a year off and then set a new date to party in Morristown, Tennessee. It had to be warmer in April, right? It was warm enough for bikinis!
From 8 a.m. on Friday until 3 p.m. on Sunday, the line at the gate was jammed. We heard that the line of vehicles entering the show was backed up 8 miles past the main gate. Once everybody made their way in the venue, bands like Limowreck, Solvi, 10,000 Miles to Nowhere, and The Grand Parade kept the crowd entertained throughout the weekend. As Saturday evening rolled around, traffic was redirected to send show vehicles as well as spectators to a cruise in the town square, which was a ton of fun.
Sunday was all about the awards ceremony. It all started with the much-anticipated Debut for Dollars Award, which was a toss-up between seven vehicles that were fresh out of a few custom shops. The winner of the big cash award was Jeff Lewis with his Tahoe. The next installment of this great show is slated for April 9-11, 2010. Mark your calendars now!
