The Los Angeles area is known for being the home of movie stars, sports stars, and of course, the cars they drive. When you're in the business of building the cars of the stars, you had better roll in something pretty impressive yourself. For Joe Khoury, owner of Super Buy Tires in Bellflower, California, that meant not only rolling in one of the biggest production SUVs on the market, but also rolling on the biggest wheels available.
When Joe brought the Hummer home from the dealership, he sent his crew right to work, pulling off the stock door handles, hood release handles, and vents. A Xenon body kit consisting of front and rear bumper covers, side skirts, and wheelwell skirts was painted to match by NP2 Auto Body in Pasadena and installed on the H2. Billet and chrome replacement handles and vents were then bolted into place on the front of the Hummer along with a Strut chrome grille.
5150 Motorsports in Glendora took a stab at the project and recovered the factory headliner with a new suede skin. The crew there also removed the hood, side, and rear lights, and blacked them out for some additional styling.
Behind the rear bumper cover a trio of train horns was bolted in place and fed through three small air tanks and a Firestone air compressor. The handle was installed next to the center console on the driver side for easy access.
Twenty-eight inches of Lexani and Kumho luxury sit at all four corners of the H2.
Next on the list was a full audio/video system for the truck. James from Super Buy Tires started by removing the stock components and replacing them with an Alpine CVA1006 DVD player and an Alpine digital EQ and TV tuner. A set of Rockford Fosgate amps pumping out more than 1,700 watts of power was installed to run three 10-inch JL Audio subs that bump from the rear of the H2 in a custom enclosure.
Below the rear seat, a PlayStation 2 and an additional Concept DVD player were wired into the video system. Three 5.6-inch headrest monitors from Concept were installed in the rear of the SUV to make sure there wasn't a bad seat in the house. A SAVV rearview mirror with a 5-inch video monitor was hung from the front windshield and wired up to a rear camera installed behind the hatch glass.
A set of Flowmaster mufflers was added to the exhaust system to complement the nice grumble from the Hummer's 6.0L powerplant. To put the finishing touches on the H2, Joe teamed up with Lexani luxury wheels and Kumho tires for the ultimate in big-baller wheels. A set of 28x10-inch Maximus wheels was covered with 305/30 Kumho rubber, by far the biggest combination on the market, and set onto each corner, giving Joe and his shop all the bragging rights he'll ever need.
