Do you wish you could sit higher without feeling like a hillbilly dirtball in a monster truck rally? Do you love customizing trucks but hate the idea of bottoming out on the hose in the driveway? If you answered yes, then lifted and customized two-wheel-drive trucks are awesome new trends you should know about. Stillen shows us just how cool they can be with its killer F-150 SuperCrew. Beefed up with fat tires, a lifted suspension, and a beautiful paint job, its definitely more of a show truck than a trail basher. Dust, gravel, and branches are obviously avoided when driving this beast, but curbs, speed bumps, potholes, and road kill have never been so exciting.
Stillens F-150 has been given a 6-inch lift thanks to front lateral compression struts and special rear traction bars from RCD. With the Stillen/AP Racing six-piston 13½-inch rotors up front and Stillen Sport Rotors out back, stopping is a piece of cake. The Bilstein shocks keep this F-150 driving more like a truck and less like a 62 Impala lowrider bouncing in a rap video. The wheels are 17x8 Niche Throttle with 35x12.50R17LT BFG Baja T/A tires. The Street Scene speed grille will never have to deal with flying chunks of mud or twigs wedged in between the slots. Some of the other features that makes this F-150 a show truck instead of a beater are the Stillen urethane brushguard (more likely to protect against shopping carts than brush), PIAA front lights for the brushguard, a Stillen Aero Roof Rack, a Ford Xtenda bed, Manik side steps, clear front corner markers, Putco bedrails, and Stillen urethane fender flares in the front and rear.
But the coolest and most attention-getting feature of this truck is the custom triple-tone paint job. Its absolutely stunning. Bell Strauss Auto Werks in Costa Mesa, California, used House of Kolor Pearl Orange, Black, and a Pearl coat to get this SuperCrew looking super sweet.
An aggressive-looking truck like this one has got to have performance that can live up to its appearance. The stock 4.6L V-8 was given some extra ponies with a M90 Intercooled Magna Charger Blower. A Stillen Hi-Flow air cleaner was added along with a Stillen Pro-X dual 2 ¼-inch exhaust system with stainless steel tips. This combination makes about 320 hp at 5,000 rpm and 375 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm. Pretty respectable.
What better way to test the Wet Okole color-matched neoprene seat covers than by leaving the window open during the skidpad testing? It may not have been intentional, but at least we know that getting the seats wet is no big deal. Our pants, on the other hand, were an entirely different story.
