"I just wanted rims, and as the truck evolved, I got addicted." This statement from the owner of this '99 Silverado, Jeff McIntire, probably sums up why any of us build the things we do. How many times have you said, "I'm just going to drive it," and next thing you know there's a set of rims mounted up and a new grille on the front end? We all fall prey to the custom bug, but this one up and bit Jeff right in the cash.
In addition to the flat stance and purple hue, the next noticeable modification has to be the '02 Escalade front clip. Chaotic Rods and Customs installed the new sheetmetal as well as grafting in the matching Caddy taillights. While the crew had the welder out, the door and tailgate handles got ditched along with the bumper. One cool touch Chaotic built into the truck is the tailgate popper switch that now is the actual taillight. Try finding that one. When all the cutting and grinding was done, a House of Kolor's Passion Purple base with Silver tribal flames was sprayed by Pat Maxwell. So that every area of the truck had some purple on it, Pat also coated pieces for the interior and under the hood.

The flat stance we spoke of earlier has become a standard in the industry, and Jeff's truck looks too sweet with it. The truck rides on 'bags at every corner and lays out on its 22-inch B Coddington Savages skinned with Nitto 285/35/22 tires, thanks again to the talented crew at Chaotic.
Ricky Players Auto Upholstery was called in to stitch up a new set of covers for the seats out of leather and ostrich to complement all the billet and painted pieces. Speaking of billet, Jeff's ride has a few pounds of whittled aluminum, such as the steering wheel, shifter, doorsill plates, pedals, and, of course, the mirror. To complete the inside, a few audio upgrades were in order, so in went Pioneer's 6300 CD head unit. It sends a signal out to a pair of Audiobahn amps; 600 watts for highs and 1,200 watts for the subs. Audiobahn also provided the speakers in the way of two 12-inch subs and a set of 6-1/2-inch components. You would think that would be enough, but just for heck of it, Jeff threw in an Audiovox 7-inch monitor.
Jeff is still working on the underhood modifications, but he did install a Helix Power Tower, a Flowmaster exhaust, and an Optima Yellow Top battery, so it wasn't totally stock when the hood was opened.
When it was all said and done, Jeff's "I'm not going to touch it" truck turned into this nice custom you see here. Jeff would like to thank Mike Jones and the whole crew at Chaotic Rods and Customs for helping him build his Caddistrophic dream. We're thinking the only thing catastrophic about this truck is the sizable dent left in Jeff's wallet.
Caddy lights, a smooth roll pan, and custom paint are the best ways to leave a lasting impression as you pass spectators, and Jeff's truck is no exception. |

Still pretty much stock in here, but what truck is ever done? Jeff did install some power adders and painted pieces for now, but plans for some more shine are in the works. |
