Everyone has their own opinion about where our personalities come from. Some say our personalities are formed during our upbringing, while others counter that it's what is in our gene pools that counts. We think our personalities are honed during our upbringing, our environment, and with input from our gene pool. No matter what your opinion might be, it's tough to deny the unbreakable tie to your parents, which has a large affect on your personality. In some cases, this tie brings out a common bond between family members that even shows up in a custom truck.
Garrett Johnson is son to Steve Johnson (Steve-O) a custom builder in Lake Charles, Louisiana. As a child, Garrett found himself watching his father tear into some killer custom dualie trucks. Together, Steve-O and Garrett walked the rows of some local shows and even pulled in a couple features on Steve-O's custom trucks. These valuable moments were the seeds that influenced Garrett's pastime, blossoming into hours spent in the garage with his dad, pounding away at a long-term dream.
When the dust settled, the outcome was a smooth S-10 Garrett calls "Bluish." This sick truck was formed from the love, blood, sweat, and tears, creating the foundation of a father and son bond - the great part of this story. In today's fast paced life, the destruction of the family unit is common. More times than not, the son barely gets to know his father, let alone the passions and interests that make up his father's character.
So, what is truly the force that develops a person's character? It's easy to blame outer elements when it comes to bad events. Yet, you can still find people who are anxious to lay claim on glorious creation. Maybe the answer is we are all responsible for how we interact and react with the things around us. The truth is who cares what you were dealt early on. Instead, embrace the responsibility and make every minute count, like Garrett and his father did on the combined efforts of their first custom truck.
