Tim Tabb's 1980 Chevrolet C10 shortwide truck has a hidden identity.
Some trucks, while seemingly flagrant in styling, are often subtler than they originally appear. Take Tim Tabb’s Chevrolet C10 shortwide for example. At first glance, it appears to be an ’87 model. It has the proper headlight/grille combo and the right hood, fenders, and bumper, but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that this truck is not what you originally thought it was.
That’s what makes Tim’s truck unique. It’s really an ’80 with ’87 front sheetmetal. Tim, an electrician from Cincinnati, decided that his truck needed a bit of updating so he changed the one thing that looked outdated on his truck. It was no easy task either; adding the ’87 sheetmetal isn’t a simple bolt-on procedure. After cutting the cowl to allow hinge mounting, and bobbing the front of the framerails to allow for the newer bumper, things began to fall into place for Tim and his brother Dave, who helped Tim throughout the buildup of his hauler. When the dust settled and the masking tape was peeled back, Tim revealed a truck he can really be proud of.
