Most people who build custom rigs are looking for some sort of recognition for their work or design. Everyone wants to hear, "Hey, nice truck." Actually, some attention is unwanted, and we think Jose Sauceda, a framing foreman, from San Jacinto, California, might get a lot of it from Johnny Law. His '98 Explorer has been customized with some of the normal modifications, but on closer inspection, you see where Jose drifted away from the norm and developed his chronic disorder.
The flames and interior have been adorned with images of the almighty dollar, skulls, and a very popular brownie ingredient. Who knows what sparked the idea in Jose's mind, but once it was packed, he took it to the head.
To get things rolling, Jose took the seedling to Bio Kustoms in his hometown to have the springs replaced with Firestoned 'bags and a big set of 23-inch Oz Racing rims rolled in Toyo rubber. The air system is fed thanks to a huge CO2 tank the crew installed in the back on a custom tube mount. Now Jose could ride with his club brothers from Low Key with his head held high, but he still had a few hits to do on the truck.
Wired Up Audio in Hemet, California, built the custom enclosure that fills the rear area of the truck. Once the fiberglass was cured, the crew stuffed it full of four 18-inch JL audio subs and wired them to a pair of 1,000-watt JL audio amps. JL audio was also used for the mids and highs, which are powered by a 450-watt amp and hooked up to an Eclipse 8443 head unit.
After the tunes were in, the crew at The Painter Shak took in the truck and proceeded to tear it all down. Jose told the crew that he wanted the paint to stand out more than the body mods, so a few things were shaved, such as the emblems and rear wiper, but not much else. Once the guys had the truck straight, a basecoat of House of Kolor Silver was applied, then the flames, skulls, dollar signs, and herbage were painted over just about everything -- inside and out.
Kinetic Kustoms covered all the seats and doors in a leather and Mary Jane combo to match the truck's theme. The headliner and a few other key areas of the truck were covered in green shag, which really changes the look of the cabin. The KK crew also made a cover for the console lid and the CO2 bottle to finish off the design.
Jose is still looking to score a cure for his chronic disorder, but for now, he would like to thank the crews at Bio Kustoms, Wired Up, Kinetik Kustoms, The Painter Shak, and of course, his club brothers from Low Key. Jose said: "Without the help all of these people, the truck would still be a seedling instead of this full grown plant."
