Hottest Cover Model

While still searching for an identity, no one had yet come up with the bright idea of hot chicks next to hot trucks. However, we did have plenty of off-road racing action and vans if that sort of thing creamed your Twinkie.

We had a two-fer on the June cover, which was the first time we ever dared to put skin next to a sport truck. Michele McFarland and Thea Lewis were our inaugural hotties. The lovely ladies were perched atop a white convertible Mazda B2200 mini-truck owned by Vern Berbeles, which was converted by Ratical Tops.

Her name was Kate Poole and she graced the November '91 cover in her leather skirt and Ray-Ban shades.

1992
Hottest Cover Model

We had to search through the text in Hoyt's column to find the photo credit, but we finally Sherlocked the info. Tracy Burton was the woman holdin' the gun on the March cover.

1993
Hottest Cover Model

A brunette would become a rare cover-model commodity throughout the years, but Billie English took top honors for '93.

1994
Hottest Cover Model

Does it get any hotter when a beautiful woman owns a hopped-up sport truck? It does when that same woman is our cover model. Tonya Poole is dreamy and so is her truck

1995
Hottest Cover Model

Sandra Taylor's auburn hair, tan skin, and pink bikini stoked our fire in the April '95 issue.

Pamela Paulshock not only scored two covers in '96, but she also won the hearts of our readers when they picked her as our first-ever You-Pick-The-Winner bikini contest winner. She first appeared on Classics By Bernt's El Camaro concept April cover and again with Brad West's '94 C1500 on the September cover.

1997
Hottest Cover Model

We set a record by having the entire Texas bikini team on our December cover. Rachel Whatshername was the cream of the crop. We lost any and all chivalrous impulses we may have had and put this hottie on the cover without even mentioning her last name. So, we send heartfelt thanks to the company that made that bikini and to Ms. Doe. We hope it still fits after all these years, but we highly doubt it.

Tammi Land of the Texas Bikini Team represented for the Lone Star State on the June cover and made all the other chicks jealous.

Hottest Cover Model

Everybody say two-fer! Meridith Blankenship and Monica Surralt make workin' in any ol' shop seem like a good time.

2000
Hottest Cover Model

Kandi Coleman wins by default because for some crazy reason we didn't photograph any other models for the cover in 2000. She's hot though, so default doesn't sound so bad now does it? The May 2000 cover girl dressed up George Link's amazing Ford Ranger.

2001
Hottest Cover Model

Shame on us! No cover models at all in 2001. But Ron Scranton's Caddy Hack Chevy and Lisa Boucher went before the lens for our first-ever Sport Truck Pinup.

2002
Hottest Cover Model

Our return to our roots couldn't have come at a better time. The hottest model of the year was Rebecca Mary, who graced the November issue next to Intro Wheels' hauler.

2003
Hottest Cover Model

Our first cover date with an adult-entertainment model resulted in one of the hottest covers we've ever shot. Devon proved she could indeed look just as good in still life as she does on video. So, we followed up her shoot with one involving Jesse Jane and Jason Biscornet's '67 Chevy. How can we choose between the two? We don't-they're both winners! It's so great making up the rules as we go

2004
Hottest Cover Model

This was an easy pick. Who could argue with Sandee Westgate's beauty? Not us. She was the perfect accent to Jay Martinez's '99 GMC, which by the way was rebuilt and dubbed "Resurrected" for its second cover shoot in March '07.

2005
Hottest Cover Model

After Joe Pettit took the reins, the cover models disappeared for a short while. As soon as Mike Finnegan came aboard, they were back with a vengeance in true ST tradition. Kat was hands-down the hottest of them all, and we even put her on a massive poster in newsstand copies of the September issue.

2006
Hottest Cover Model

We hung out with hottie Cora Skinner way before Brody Jenner did! So there!

2007
Hottest Cover Model

Elisabeth Ashley made appearances both on the January '07 cover and in the "Donut Run" story in the February issue in which we road-tested a new Dodge Ram SRT10 and Viper. Either way, she's hot and our pick for model of the year.

2008
Hottest Cover Model

This one was tough to pick because of the bevy of hotties we shot this year, but Sara Jean Underwood came out on top. She also happens to be the Playmate of the Year so it looks like we share the same taste as Mr. Hugh Hefner. See, great minds think alike.
