Power To The People
Hypertech's new Power Tuning programs for '03-'07 Ford trucks equipped with 6.0L Power Stroke engines increase output by as much as 115 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque more than factory tuning. Hypertech's Power Tuning program for '06 Duramax-equipped GM trucks produces gains of as much as 95 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque over stock. In addition to three-stage power tuning, Ford applications also allow users to firm up automatic transmission shifts and to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) from the on-board computer. GM applications add an adjustable top-speed limiter for speed-rated tires and allow re-calibration of the speedometer and odometer for non-stock tire sizes, from 26 to 36-inch diameter, and rearend gear ratios, from 3.23:1 to 4.10:1. The HyperPAC performance automotive computer also offers informative Drag Strip, Dynamometer, and Gauge displays with a touch-screen interface.
New from Sunpro is the 5-inch Super Tach III that is sheathed in a solid metal casing with a smooth chrome finish. It features a large 5-inch dial face and zero-to-10,000 rev scale. Internal settings can be adjusted for two-, four-, six-, and eight-cylinder engines. An adjustable swivel mounting foot allows for positioning at a variety of angles. Additional unique features of the Super Tach III include incandescent backlighting that projects a uniform illumination around the dial face for better night visibility. The shift light can also be repositioned around the tachometer to achieve the best viewing angle. Adjustable shift light and rpm set-point controls are sculpted to fit inside the bezel.
Programmers and modules are not the only way to make horsepower with your GM 6.6L Duramax diesel. Volant designed its cold-air intake and its stainless steel exhaust system on the dyno to dramatically improve the Duramax's breathing and efficiency. The result is a combination that the company claims produces more than a 45hp gain at the rear wheels. Volant's intake design improves airflow by picking up air from three locations and funneling it through its large, conical Primo filter, using ProGuard-7 technology. Volant's high-flow, 304-grade stainless steel exhaust system improves the Duramax's exhaust flow by greatly eliminating backpressure. The system is fully polished from end to end and uses a short, high-flow muffler and 4-inch mandrel-bent tubing to promote quicker turbo response and torque, without adding any drone inside the cab.

Weld's New Whittlings
Weld Racing is now cutting 12 new rim designs (Kruiser and Smoothster, shown) that range in sizes from 15x4.5- to 20x16-inch to fit your truck's needs. To produce a lighter, stronger, and truer rim, they are forged from aerospace alloys, right here in the good old U.S. of A. Wheels narrower than 6 inches will be one-piece hot forgings from 6061 primary aerospace aluminum. Each is 100-percent CNC-machined, and they are constructed by the same methods that make the company's pro-drag front wheels so lightweight and tough with a burst speed of 400-plus mph.
