Bought a 97 GMC Sierra and I plan on making it low and loud just for shits and gigs and this place looks like the right place to start a worklog and to get some info. The truck is nothing pretty to look at, but I didn't buy it for that lol it's 2wd (perfect for lowering) has a 5.7 and auto. But enough about *** I'm sure you guys don't care about and I'll post some pics of the beast later. I am trying to locate drop spindles and a shackle/hanger kit to drop my 2wd 3/4ton Suburban 3in/4in . I have been on the phone with DJM, McGaughy's & Bell Tech but no one seems to know exactly what fits my Burb!!! It is an odd duck, 1996 GMC Suburban C2500 2wd with 8 LUG WHEELS and a 7.4L/4L80. Can I use C2500/3500 pickup drop spindles or drop coils? I would rather drop it the right way with spindles. I'm not sure if GM used 8lug rotors on a half ton spindle or if my 'Burb actually has 3/4ton or 1 ton spindles? Is there an easy way to tell? My rear leaf springs are 2.5" wide not the 3", so maybe a half ton 'Burb shackle/hanger kit for the same year? I'm not sure if the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frames are different on a Suburban. I'm not opposed to welding or drilling on the frame to make the hanger brackets fit but of course I would prefer bolt on. Hopefully one of you guys have attempted this before and can point me in the right direction. Thank you for any help you can provide. I'll post pics and part #'s if and when I get this all sorted out. Update: I used a MOOG and Timken catalog to cross reference my front ball-joints and hub bearings. It appears I have 1 ton spindles up front since my 'Burb is 8600gvw. So I am going to order a set of DJM 3" spindles for a '96 C3500. I am also going to try a summit racing 4" shackle/hanger kit for 2.5" leafs in the rear. I'll keep you guys updated. Wish me luck LOL.

Need help lowering '96 C2500 Suburban |

MUST READ !!!!! BLAZERADO !!!!! RIP OFF !!!!!!
Hi! I had a 1997 Chevy 4 Door Dually and I brought it to Silver Star Customs (SSC) in HORN LAKE MISS. because a Friend of mine suggest I bring it there. I was tossed up between them and EKSTENSIVE METALWORKS to get it Bagged and Body Droped and put 6 Alcola wheels for $15,000 parts and Labor EKSTENSIVE wanted $13,000 parts and Labor and I wish I would have went to them instead and SILVER STAR CUSTOMS said if you want it done wright bring it to me(SSC).I should have known better when he said that, what a joke that was. Now take in to consideration I had all the parts so you think it would have been cheaper because I supplied all the parts.SSC said if you supply all the parts it would about 1/2 the cost of the build so that means I would owe SSC $2,500 when they are finished with my Dually because I gave them $5000 to start the Build so $5,000(start) + $7,500 Parts + $2,500 (when finished) = $15,000.I had all the parts(bags, switches, belt driven compressor,valves,relays,3 stainless tanks ect.) all brand new bought from SILVER STAR CUSTOMS at showfest car show.Plus i had a set of Lambo Door hinges $1000 and 6 Tires for the rims. I dropped it off with all the parts to do the job I gave them $5000 to start the job it would be in 3 installments after a year all they did was take the truck apart. So all they did for $7,500 was take the truck apart and now it is gone I think some one Knows where my Dually is or what happen to my Dually because there is no way they would junk a perfectly good truck and motor 454 ,transmission, rear end and cab and bed and all the Billet Hardware I had on the truck etc. They also claim that they do not like when a customer calls to see when there truck is going to be done so I made sure I did not bother them I let them take as long as they want, I was in no hurry. Then I was buying a Blazer that they built named the BLAZERADO for $24,000 I gave them $8000 payment they were bringing the Blazer to me and flipped it off the road they decided to rebuild it, as they were rebuilding the Blazer my Dually was put on hold and i was paying them for the Blazer while they rebuilt it when it was done they gave me a Bill for $50,000 witch i refuse to pay.I had gave them $34,000 as they were fixing the Blazer. So after 3yrs and $40,000 later they junked my Dually and my Dually was very nice it had a sand and polish paint job and lots of Billet parts and was Lowered and a flip up dvd radio. So now i have gave them a nice Dually to Body drop and all the parts to do the job plus almost $40,000 in cash and now my Dually and all my parts are gone but they still have the BLAZERADO witch I do not want and it sits in front of there shop rotting with the hood up. Here is something else there was a RHINO that was stolen from SSC and the owner went on the new in HORN LAKE MS. Crying like a little BABY saying PLEASE GIVE ME BACK MY RHINO ATV I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AND TIME BUILDING THAT ATV JUST LET ME KNOW WHERE IT IS I WILL NOT ASK ANY NAMES JUST LET ME KNOW AND I WILL COME PICK IT UP NO QUESTIONS ASKED O I FEEL SO BAD FOR SILVER STAR CUSTOMS LOST. THAT IS TO BAD BUT YOU KNOW THEY GOT IT BACK SO WHERE IN THE HELL IS MY DUALLY AND ALL MY PARTS AND MONEY? You can GOOGLE THAT STOLEN RHINO AT SILVER STAR CUSTOMS STOLEN RHINO HORNLAKE MS. I think there is something fishy with that BLAZER because the original owner of the Blazer was friends with SSC up until they finished the BLAZERADO and SSC ended up with the BLAZER. So i think SSC ripped of the original owner as well like he ripped me off because now they do not speak and they are not friends. Some one out there knows what happened and I sure would like to find out because,I have been ripped off for as much as $70,000 and I have nothing to show for it how is that even possible that this can happen? Does any one have any idea what can be done about this I feel this place should be charged with Grand Theft Auto and steeling of my parts and my money. THANKS

!!!!! MUST READ !!!!! BLAZERADO !!!!!! RIP OFF !!!!!! |

I would like to lower it at least 4" in front and 6" in the rear. I currently have on it 15x8 American TT 2 with 235-60-15 up front and 245-60-15 on the rear, kind of old school. I am looking for some advice on what would work the best. to get this down to where it would look level and low but still ride and steer good.

Advice needed Lowering my truck |

electric fuel pumps has been skipped somehow.. engine idling... pull the fuel pump relay or remove the wiring connector from it.... the engine SHOULD continue to idle.. and run as normal. if the engine dies.. change the oil pressure switch.. look at this first diagram.. just the upper half.. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/fuelpumprelaywiring747ecm4.jpg see the orange wire.. that sends power to the fuel pump relay.. but also to the fuel pump control terminals on the oil pressure switch.. see those below.. the OIL pressure switch should be handing most of the current for the fuel pump circuit.. not the tiny pins of the relay.. this redundant circuit is to make sure that you get where you are going without stalling out.. can you see the bent lead in this image.. that is for the oil pressure switch. for the gauge circuit. its the BAR and the outer 2 contacts in the cap that we are worried about.. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/gmoilpressurefuelpumpswitch3.jpg http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/gmoilpressureswitchfuelpumpswitch1.jpg when the oil pressure comes up slightly. probably 6 or 7 psi.. the BAR is pushed against the terminals inside the socket.. creating a complete circuit to power the fuel pump.. the problem is.. its NOT a wiping contact.. the spots where it touches are the same each time.. so it can build up corrosion and oxides to prevent proper contact.. when this happens... all the current for the fuel pump supply circuit will be sent through the fuel pump relay... this is what a lot of gm cars and trucks use for a fuel pump relay.. some have larger terminals.. some a micro sized case.. theory is the same.. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/fuelpumprelayinsides.jpg the contacts get dirty.. when the oil pressure switch fails.. all the fuel pump current is sent through this side of the harness.. look at the size of the pins.. they are tiny. the connectors in the socket get loose from thermal cycling.. then you burn up relays.. leaving you stranded sometimes. or odd stalling issues.. where the engine will just quit.. and then restart.. in the diagram above.. you will see the dark green and white striped wire to the coil windings of the fuel pump relay.. the computer on most GMs.. sends positive voltage to the fuel pump relay coils to activate the relay.. which is reversed from almost everything else controlled by the computer.. please be VERY careful in diagnosing the green and white striped wire.. if your test light pulls more than one amp... you can burn the power transistor out inside the computer.. creating an unseen problem that will drive you crazy.. you will also see that one of the wires runs to the ALDL connector.. thats the fuel pump prime circuit.. i don't know if all the GM cars with ALDL connectors and electric fuel pumps are equipped with that.. most of the tuned port injected cars are with OBD1 connectors.. there is another source of power for the fuel pump.. thats really not well known.. its shown on the diagram close to the bottom of the upper section.. thats the HOT fuel module.. that is mounted under the hood someplace.. it keeps the fuel pump running when the engine is shut off and fairly hot.. to cool the injectors from heat soak from the engine.. also stops the fuel from boiling in the fuel lines from the heat when shut off.. its hard to tell which cars are equipped with it.. this diagram is for the 7747 ECM used on a lot of gm port fuel injected cars.. and a lot of PFI and TPI swaps.. i hope that this tidbit of info and 5 minutes of reading time save you some headaches by finding an invisible issue before it happens... one thing.. if you look at the threads of the oil pressure switch above.. they are WRONG... who ever rolled those threads rolled them to 1/2-13 UNC... not 1/4-18 NPTm it's close.. it will thread in.. but it will also send off big turnings of steel when installing it into the STEEL adaptors that GM has on their engines.. so feel the threads on any oil pressure switch you buy.. if they are NOT smaller in diameter slightly at the first and larger at the top of the threads.. don't buy it.. i know there might be an application for the 1/2-13 straight thread.. but somebody screwed up with this one.. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/gmoilpressurefuelpumpswitch2.jpg when also having fuel pump related issues.. one will also want to check the ground connections usually found on top of a frame rail crossmember under the bed of the truck... http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/Chevypickupfuelpumpgroundframe.jpg http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb476/waynep712/94GMC_C1500fuelpumpground.jpg if these are dirty or corroded.. you won't get as much current from the ground side of the circuit and you won't have enough electrons to make the pump spin at full speed... don't forget to check the grounds at the front of the frame to the negative battery. could be under the cab front or near the front of the engine... the oil pressure switch on the LS motors is hidden behind the intake in the same general position as any of the earlier generations of gm motors..
