10. The seal, pickup coil, and ignition module are attached to the housing. The star-shaped device on the shaft is called the reluctor wheel. As the edges of the stars on both the reluctor and magnetic pickup align, it increases the resistance in the magnetic field. The ignition module senses this as a pulse signal and sends it out to the ignition system. The ignition then fires the coil in relation to the pulse signal. View Related Article
