Transfer Flow Truck Bed Tool Box & Fuel Cell - Super Big Gulp

1. The toolbox and fuel tank combo was shipped via ground freight and arrived on a pallet. We tossed it into the back of the truck, alongside the cheap plastic toolbox that has been a permanent fixture in the bed of our truck forever. Pretty soon, we'll toss that plastic box and redistribute its contents inside the shiny new Transfer Flow piece.

2. The box comes pre-assembled with only the filler hose mount needing to be put together. The storage area, which makes up the upper portion of the box is 60-3/4 inches long and 9-1/2 inches deep, which is roomy enough for breaker bars, ratchet straps, and most anything else you need for the road.

3. Everything needed to perform the installation (except the tools) is included. Transfer Flow even includes stickers to denote whether the tank is used for gas or diesel fuel, which you can place right on the lid, so that anyone not familiar with the box, like your mother, girlfriend, wife, or dumbass friends, won't have any excuse for pumping the wrong brew into the tank.

4. This is what we meant when we mentioned earlier that the box wouldn't fit into the bed properly with the plastic bedliner installed. That was just wishful thinking on our part.

5. After removing the bedliner, we slid the box into the bed and positioned it with 1/2 an inch clearance between the lid and the front bed bulkead. Next, we assembled the filler hose mounting bracket because we had to make sure it was going to fit next to the box.

6a. After determining that not only was the box nice and straight but also that the filler hose mount was in a spot where we could actually access the hose, we drilled the mounting holes in the driver side of the box. Unlike those industrial tanks you see with the hose lying on the bed floor or rolled up on top of the tank, Transfer Flow set up this slick mount so you can hide the hose in between the bed side and the box.

7. Next, we marked the holes for the box mounting brackets and then removed the box from the bed. We drilled not only the four 3/8-inch mounting holes for the box but also two more 1/2-inch-diameter holes in the lower portion of the bed side. The 1/2-inch holes are for the power cables and the vent hose.

8a. Not only does the kit provide a power and ground cable to connect the pump to the battery but also battery post extensions so that we can keep the factory battery cables intact, thus shortening the install time considerably.

9a. You can see here the power wires and vent line run out through the rear wall of the box. The pump comes plumbed with crimp-connect fittings and this nifty cover is secured with ultra-sticky double-sided tape.

10a. After bolting the box to the bed floor, all that was left to do was fill up the top of the toolbox. This is one benefit we took full advantage of. We immediately emptied out the area behind the back seat of the truck, and you know what that means-we now have room for subwoofers!

11. In case you were wondering what our bed looked like after we removed the 10-year-old plastic bedliner-it was hammered! The paint was rubbed clean off down to the factory primer on the bedrails, and the floor had begun to rust because of the water trapped beneath the liner. Thankfully, the Line-X actually hid all of the damage, and the bed looks new again.

12. With the installation completed, we headed to the nearest gas station to fill up the Transfer Flow tank. Fifty four gallons later, we were on the road.

13a. Having a built-in pump makes the new toolbox/fuel tank combo extremely handy. We have used it to refuel stranded motorists, fuel jugs, even our own truck when we didn't feel like going to the gas station.
