Lowered 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab - Low-Core
 The new progressive rate spring...  The new progressive rate spring replaces the stock unit and features a urethane isolator that is almost an inch thick. You can install the factory rubber isolator if you want your truck to sit 1 inch lower in the front. We like the level look, as opposed to the raked look, so we went with the urethane unit.  With the spring in, the rest...  With the spring in, the rest of the suspension was reassembled.  The new Bilstein shock fits...  The new Bilstein shock fits in the stock hole but is a little shorter to compensate for the drop in the suspension.  The new urethane sway bar...  The new urethane sway bar bushings were pre-lubed with the provided grease to prevent squeaks. After the lube, the bushing was slid on the bar, so the slit faced the front of the truck.  The bar and brackets were...  The bar and brackets were lifted up and mounted to the truck with the stock hardware.  There are new endlink bushings...  There are new endlink bushings for the sway bar that mount to the factory endlink. Once those were tight, we moved onto the rear portion of the installation. See you in the rear.  To begin on the back end,...  To begin on the back end, the lower shock bolts (21mm) were removed first. Then, the leaf spring bolts followed suit, which are a 21mm nut and a T55 Torx bolt.  The U-bolts that hold the...  The U-bolts that hold the spring pack to the rearend came off with a 21mm socket and a fairly beefy impact gun.  Out with the old and in with...  Out with the old and in with the new. The Hotchkis leaf pack is specifically designed for the rear of the Ram and is rated at a 4-inch drop.  A new shorter urethane bumpstop...  A new shorter urethane bumpstop was installed to prevent the axle from slamming into the frame and possibly causing damage and a harsh ride.  The new leaf pack was installed...  The new leaf pack was installed with the factory U-bolts and nuts. Make sure you have the pin that protrudes from the bottom of the leaves indexed into the hole that's on the perch.
