The Install As with any engine work, the negative terminal was removed from the battery first. To start the install, we removed the airbox tubing and engine cover. | To gain access to the front of the core support where the oil cooler will be installed, we removed seven clips from the radiator cover. Then, we removed the cover and the grille by gently pulling on its corners. | A 24mm socket and impact gun were used to unbolt the crank pulley retaining bolt. The new blower pulley keys into the stock crank pulley. We torqued the crank pulley bolt to 250 lb-ft. |
W2W swapped out the factory spark plugs (left) for nonprojected tip plugs (right) with a cooler heat range, to reduce the chance of detonation under boost conditions. | Our aftermarket SLP airbox had to be removed, and the stock unit needed to be reinstalled, in order to fit W2W's oil reservoir and lines for the blower. | W2W provides a cooler thermostat, which meant all the coolant had to be drained from the system. The '04-and-later Chevys don't have a petcock on the radiator, so we had to pop off a line, instead, to drain the fluid. |
A 10mm socket was used to remove the thermostat housing bolts, and the bolts required 15 lb-ft to tighten them. We installed the new thermostat and then reinstalled the housing. | These three 10mm bolts were exchanged for longer ones during the installation f the idler pulley for the supercharger. The bolts were torqued to 22 lb-ft. | The belt tensioner was then installed in the lower part of the supercharger bracket. |
