1.The sub enclosure (constructed of 3/4-inch MDF) was placed into the truck to get attached to the port. Because the port is secured from inside the sub enclosure, pilot holes were drilled into the port and box for easier installation.

2.With the speaker box secured, cardboard and a compass were used to create a pattern for the trim panels on the outside of the box.

4.For good measure, he added a few staples to make sure the panels don't release from the box on their own.

5.Here are the trim panels in place. Notice how tight the gaps are? This will ensure the Line-X spray-in bedliner has seamless corners and edges and protects the box from any moisture. Silicone was also used in the gaps to add an extra layer of protection before the Line-X is sprayed on.

9.Here is the final result....

9.Here is the final result. Notice the gaps, or lack thereof? That is because the trim panels fit as tightly as possible. The only way to get this box out is to cut it out. If something ever happens to a speaker and it needs to be replaced, the acrylic window can removed and the speaker will come out through the opening.
The Final Word
Not only does the bedliner look good, it is still functional too. This customer can haul anything from a duffel bag to a load of dirt and not have to worry about damaging the bed or the sub enclosure. And the great thing about having a spray-in bedliner protecting your bed and audio equipment is it can be washed out with soap and water.
