9. Here's a look at what we've accomplished so far. All that's left to do is install the crossover pipe and the rest of the exit tubing.

10a. The crossover pipe is...

10a. The crossover pipe is a three-piece deal that is super easy to assemble. You simply position the two couplers on the downpipes, measure and cut the proper length of intermediate tubing, and then weld it all together.

11a. Before you permanently install the crossover pipe, don't forget to cut out the holes in the downpipes. It loses its scavenging affect when you don't do that.

12a. The U-fit kit saves a ton of time if you want the exhaust to exit at the rear of the truck. These pre-bent , two-piece over-the-axle tubes really speed the installation up because you won't have to weld three or four parts together.

13a. I chose to make the exhaust system even more obnoxious by having it exit out each side of the truck, right in front of the rear tires. A small bend was put into these L-shaped pipes, right where the front leaf spring hangers are located.

14a. The final pieces of this puzzle include another set of hangers, which support the rear sections of tubing, and the polished tips.
The Final Word
The rumble of a great exhaust system is a necessary attribute of any great sport truck, especially one that's motivated by a V-8. This kit is easy to install, especially if you choose to clamp the tubing together. Having access to a welder and a chopsaw to modify the tubing to your liking takes the cool factor to a whole new level. I dig the sound of the 50-Series mufflers, and although the 3-inch-diameter tubing is overkill for the 400-plus horsepower engine, it will give me room to grow as I modify the engine further.
