To lower pre-1997 trucks more than 2 inches, you have to replace the stock I-beam axles (bottom) with aftermarket dropped I-beams (top). Typically, dropped I-beams will lower the front of an F-150 3 inches. Note how the dropped I-beam moves the spindle higher.
