Mike Alexander's Weekend Warrior Toyota sunned itself all day long in front of the Primedia rig at Sunday's Forbidden Fantasy Show at Lake Perris, California. He drove it about four miles to the show that morning, making it in time for the show's roll-in. Mike Finnegan's '67 Chevy C10 should have been there next to Alexander's during the early AM hours of the show, but luck was not on Finnegan's side: "The truck ran and moved, it just wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear so driving on the freeway wasn't an option. I planned on towing to within a few miles of the show and then driving the truck in. On the way the trailer lost a wheel (literally) so I was stuck in Riverside. Mike A and his buddy Tyson came to the rescue and picked us and my truck up. Got the show late but I was able to drive the truck in after getting to the parking lot."
Because the challenge specifically states that "if both trucks make it to the show and are driven, then there is no loser," technically that means we have no loser, as both trucks did fit this criteria. However, Sport Truck's C10 made it to the show BECAUSE of Mini Truckin' rescue efforts, despite Alexander's previous threats of sabotaging the C10, as I quote: "Sabotage Finnegan's Engine Wiring" and "Sabotage Finnegan's brakes."
In conclusion, we can't help but give brownie points to Mini Truckin' for havin' the Weekend Warrior on display on time and for helpin' out Sport Truck. But, badass points must also be awarded to the Sport Truck side, as Finnegan drove "62 miles from the show to my house with a trans that wouldn't get out of 2nd gear." Finnegan is rightfully refusing to label it a defeat, preferring to call it a "tie" in order to survive the day, and Alexander has returned to supporting the "someday it will drive" theory.
As Alexander stated, "It was a fun bet, but let's never do that again HAHA." And as I recall Finnegan saying yesterday, "I'm just glad it's over."
At least these guys can get some sleep now, and hopefully they are motivated enough now to keep these project trucks on the road daily. Here are the C10 pictures. For Weekend Warrior pictures, visit minitruckinweb.com
