In July, while Morgan Lucas was busy racing Top Fuel Dragster at an NHRA event, his dad, Forrest Lucas, opened the doors of his Corona, California-based headquarters to his west coast racers for a truly awesome picnic. Years ago, the Lucas Oil employee appreciation picnic started out as a way to say thanks to the men and women that made the company great. Over the years, it grew as racers were invited to show off their rides. Today, it's a full blown party. There was an awesome bbq and buffet, cold beer on tap all day and night, and live entertainment. But even better than that, was the cacklefest put on by drag racers and a host of amazing custom trucks on display. We hung out soaking up the atmosphere and managed to meet CORR off-road short course truck racer Carl Renezeder, as well as SCORE trophy truck pilot Cameron Steele. Here's a look at some of the killer machines on display at this invite-only event.

This truck is owned by Phil...

This truck is owned by Phil Leatherman of Extreme Automotive in Corona, California. Phil's younger brother Ivan built the truck four years ago, and Bob Ryder featured it in Truckin' Magazine when it was completed. Unfortunately, Ivan passed away shortly after the feature shoot. Phil was recently voted the NSRA National Street Rod Association, '08 Builder of the Year.

Carl Renezeder is the current...

Carl Renezeder is the current CORR Pro-4 class champion and his Ford short course truck is a marvel of suspension travel and fabrication skills.

The Terminator monster truck...

The Terminator monster truck was also in the house. You should have heard this thing bark the tires as it roared out of the parking lot at the end of the day.

If you've never seen a tractor...

If you've never seen a tractor pulling machine up close then take a good look. That's four hemi-headed blown aluminum big blocks working together between the rails and fired by six Mags. Insanity!

This is the reason I was able...

This is the reason I was able to sneak into the party. That's my 19-foot Ultra drag boat, which I bracket race in the NJBA and IHBA series races.
